...When there is a central scotoma, it is often accompanied by a decrease in vision, and can be broadly divided into two categories: those caused mainly by optic nerve diseases such as optic neuritis, and those caused by macular chorioretinal diseases such as central retinitis. In addition, a loss of the right or left half of the visual field of both eyes, with a vertical line passing through the point of gaze as the boundary, is called hemianopsia. A loss of the same side of both eyes is called homonymous hemianopsia (there are right homonymous hemianopsia and left homonymous hemianopsia), and a loss of the opposite side of both eyes is called heteroonymous hemianopsia (there are bitemporal hemianopsia and binasal hemianopsia). ...
