…It is thought to be a variation of the discus, but its origins are unknown. In England, it is called quoits, and has been played since the 14th century. The most common current example is a sport in which a 20cm diameter rubber board with a hole about 6cm in diameter is thrown at a single pin (hob), or a 15cm diameter ring is thrown at nine pins arranged in a square with about 20cm intervals. It is played both indoors and outdoors, and the pins are about 16m away. …
