Osugi Gorge - Osugikyokoku

Also known as Osugidani. A gorge in the upper reaches of the Miyagawa River that originates from Mt. Odaigahara in the central-southern part of Mie Prefecture, on the border with Nara Prefecture. Many waterfalls, including Senbiro Falls and Niko Niko Falls, flow down cliffs covered in primeval forest. It is said that timber for the construction of the Ise Grand Shrine was cut here until the Middle Ages. It belongs to Yoshino-Kumano National Park, and a hiking trail leads from Odai Town to Mt.
