Okuma [town] - Ookuma

Japanese: 大熊[町] - おおくま

A town in Futaba County, central Hamadori, eastern Fukushima Prefecture. Kumamachi, the town's center, is a former post station on the Rikuzenhama Kaido highway and lies along the Joban Line. In addition to rice and livestock farming, the town also cultivates fruit trees, vegetables, and shiitake mushrooms. Otozawa is home to the Tokyo Electric Power Company's Fukushima Daiichi Nuclear Power Plant (currently out of power generation due to a radioactive material leak in March 2011). The town sustained damage during the Great East Japan Earthquake. 78.71 ^km2 . Population: 11,515 (2010).

福島県東部，浜通り中央部の双葉(ふたば)郡の町。中心の熊町は陸前浜街道の旧宿駅で常磐線に沿う。米作，畜産を行うほか，果樹，野菜，シイタケ栽培を行う。夫沢(おっとざわ)には東京電力福島第一原子力発電所がある（2011年３月の放射性物質漏えい事故により，発電機能停止中）。東日本大震災で，町内において被害が発生。78.71km²。１万1515人（2010）。
