Okuninushi-no-Kami

Japanese:
Okuninushi-no-Kami
One of the main gods in Japanese mythology. The protagonist of Izumo mythology. In the Kojiki and Nihon shoki, he is said to be the son of Susanoo or the sixth-generation grandson, and has many other names, such as Onamuchi, Yachihoko, Omononushi, and Ashihara no Shikoo. In the Izumo no Kuni Fudoki, he is considered the creator of heaven and earth, which shows that the legend of the creation of the land in Izumo differs from that in the Kojiki and Nihon shoki (Izumo mythology). It is thought that he was gradually processed and incorporated into the imperial mythology system. The legend that he taught land management and crop cultivation together with Sukunabikona is also found in the Manyoshu and Kogo Shūi, and the two gods, the larger and the smaller, are considered to be the lords of the land in pairs. In the Kojiki, he married Suserihime no Mikoto, was bullied by his brother gods, and includes the legend of the White Rabbit of Inaba and the story of being tested by Susanoo no Mikoto. He then followed the orders of Amaterasu Omikami and retired, presenting the country to the heavenly grandson.
