[Soil creep]
Rock debris and soil on a slope slowly move downhill under the influence of gravity. This process is called soil creep, or simply creep, which can be translated as creeping. It is thought to be caused by changes in the volume of the surface layer of sediments due to changes in temperature and moisture content, repeated freezing and thawing, etc. In general, the steeper the slope and the more fine-grained material is contained, the faster the movement.
