[Neuralgia intermedius]
This is neuralgia of the neuropathy nerve, a sensory branch of the facial nerve, and causes paroxysmal or persistent pain in the ear canal. It is also called geniculate neuralgia, but it is very rare. In addition to essential cases, there are symptomatic cases caused by dental or otolaryngological diseases, and shingles in the ear and geniculate ganglion in particular is known as Ramsay Hunt syndrome.
