...the main tribe of Ethiopia. Together with the Tigrinya people living in the northern Eritrea region, they were called Abyssinians. This is because both were descendants of the Habasha (the origin of the word Abyssinia), the main inhabitant of the ancient Kingdom of Aksum, but the term Abyssinia is now rarely used.
