…Once infected, it is said that one is immune to the disease for life. Bordetella pertussis is a small bacillus (1.0-1.5μm x 0.3-0.5μm) that was isolated from a patient by J. Bordet and O. Gengou in 1906, and is gram-negative. The pathogen enters the body through droplet infection, that is, by being exposed to the patient's cough.
