Hamgyong Mountains

A mountain range that runs from northeast to southwest near the east coast (Japan Sea side) of the northeastern part of the Korean Peninsula. The mountain range is made up of granite gneiss and granite. Within the range, there are 2000m-class high peaks such as Gwanmo-bong (2541m), Korea's second highest mountain, Tojeongsan (2201m), Jikujo-bong (2277m), and Mantapsan (2205m), making it the so-called Korean Alps.

朝鮮半島北東部の東海岸（日本海側）寄りに、北東から南西に走る山脈。山体は花崗片麻(かこうへんま)岩、花崗岩からなる。山脈中には朝鮮第二の山である冠帽峰（2541メートル）をはじめ、渡正山（2201メートル）、机上峰（2277メートル）、万塔山（2205メートル）などの2000メートル級の高峰がそびえ、いわゆる朝鮮のアルプス地帯である。
