In addition, the movement to frontier regions and the development of these regions fostered the development of temperament (frontier spirit) that can be said to be characteristic of the American national character, such as hard work, the high status of women, disposable items, the need for invention and ingenuity, optimism, frequent travel, and anti-intellectualism. The greatest influence of this was the transformation of democracy that had been introduced from England into the American style of democracy.
