...In the Middle Ages, when Christianity was strong, dance was considered pagan and non-religious, and its music was not written down. However, with the appearance of the troubadours, estampees and carols, which were round dances with a certain form, were created and began to be sung and played on instruments. As dance eventually became an essential part of court life, dance music also developed remarkably.
