Acetaminophen

It is an aniline derivative that is an antipyretic and analgesic, and is highly toxic. It is also an active metabolite of phenacetin. Its antipyretic and analgesic effects are similar to those of salicylic acid derivatives, but it has no antirheumatic or anti-inflammatory effects. Side effects are the same as those of aniline, as the acetyl group is gradually separated in the body (→aniline poisoning), and may include cyanosis due to the formation of methemoglobin, anemia due to hemolysis, sweating, rash, collapse, kidney damage, and liver damage. For this reason, long-term administration should be avoided. Preparations include PL Granules and Sedes G.

解熱鎮痛剤のアニリン誘導体の一つで，毒性が強い。フェナセチンの活性代謝物でもある。解熱，鎮痛作用はサリチル酸誘導体と同様であるが，抗リウマチ，抗炎症作用はない。副作用は，生体内で徐々にアセチル基を分離するためアニリンのそれと同じで (→アニリン中毒 ) ，メトヘモグロビン形成によるチアノーゼ，溶血による貧血，発汗，発疹，虚脱，腎障害，肝障害がみられることがある。そのため長期間投与は避ける。 PL顆粒，セデスGなどの製剤がある。
