Mount Emei - Gabisan

Japanese: 峨嵋山 - がびさん

A mountain in the west of Jiading, Sichuan Province, China. It is also written as Mount Emei. It is 3099m above sea level. It is a Buddhist sacred site centered around the Bodhisattva Samantabhadra. There are many temples such as Niu Xin, Fu Hu, and Wannian, and it is said to be one of the four great mountains along with Mount Jiuhua, Mount Wutai, and Mount Putuo. It is home to the 71m high cliff-carved Buddha, the Leshan Giant Buddha. Mount Emei and the Leshan Giant Buddha were registered as a World Heritage Site (combined natural and cultural heritage) in 1996. It is also famous as a summer resort because of its cool summers, and many literati and artists visited it in the past.

中国，四川省嘉定西方の山。峨眉山とも書く。標高3099m。仏教の霊場で普賢菩薩を中心とする。牛心・伏虎・万年など寺院が多く，九華山，五台山，普陀山と並び四大名山といわれる。高さ71mの磨崖仏〈楽山大仏〉がある。峨嵋山と楽山大仏は1996年，世界遺産（自然・文化複合）に登録。夏季冷涼なため避暑地としても有名で，古くは多くの文人墨客が訪れた。
