[Prokaryotic and eukaryotic cells]
In principle, a cell has one nucleoid, or nucleus, in which all of the genes (DNA) specific to that organism are located. All cells are divided into two groups: prokaryotic cells, which have a nucleoid, and eukaryotic cells, which have a nucleus. The difference between these two groups is not limited to whether they have a nucleus or not; there are many other significant differences, and there are no cells that are in between the two groups.
