…Estoppel is a legal principle in the Anglo-American law. This term has various uses, but the most common is called "estoppel in pais" or "equitable estoppel." This is a legal principle that a person who, through his or her actions (including verbal expressions), has the result of misrepresenting a fact or concealing the existence of a fact, is not permitted to claim that the facts are different when it is reasonably expected that others will act in the belief that such facts exist (or do not exist), and when such others actually act in the belief that they do. *Some of the terminology explanations that mention "equitable estoppel" are listed below.
