…Population: 129,000 (1991). German name: Dünaburg, Russian name: Dvinsk. Located on the Daugava (Western Dvina) River, which flows into the Gulf of Riga, it is the largest inland commercial, industrial and cultural city, and a key transportation hub where five railway networks linking Riga, St. Petersburg, Moscow, Vilnius and Klaipeda intersect.
