Wang Gaiyun - Wang Gaiyun

A Chinese writer in the late Qing Dynasty. His courtesy name was Jinqiu and he was called Xiangqi Laojun. He was from Xiangtan County, Hunan Province. He was a member of the Juren clan. He was from the same county as Mao Zedong. During the Taiping Rebellion, he was active under the government's Zeng Guofan, and served as the head of the academies in Chengdu, Changsha, and Hengzhou. He was also the head teacher of the Jiangxi University, and in 1908 he was made a tutor. He began his career in the study of rituals, and was well versed in the study of Gongyang. He wrote the 11-volume Spring and Autumn Gongyang Biography. In terms of literature, he was famous as a writer of tango. He did not like poetry from the Tang Dynasty onwards, and his poetry has the elegance of the Six Dynasties. The study room is called Xiangqilou and contains the "Complete Collection of Xiangqilou."

中国、清(しん)末の文人。字(あざな)は壬秋(じんしゅう)、湘綺(しょうき)老人と号した。湖南省湘潭(しょうたん)県の人。挙人出身。後の毛沢東(もうたくとう)と同県人である。太平天国当時、政府側の曽国藩(そうこくはん)の幕下で活躍し、成都、長沙(ちょうさ)、衡州(こうしゅう)の書院の院長を歴任、江西大学堂総教、1908年には侍読(じどく)にあげられた。礼学より始めて公羊(くよう)学に詳しく、『春秋公羊伝箋(せん)』11巻の著がある。文学の面では駢文(べんぶん)作家として名高い。唐以後の詩を好まず、その詩には六朝(りくちょう)の艶麗(えんれい)の風がみられる。書室を湘綺楼(しょうきろう)といい、『湘綺楼全書』がある。
