Weishui Basin

Japanese: 渭水盆地 - いすいぼんち

A basin that spreads across the Wei River basin in central Shaanxi Province, China. It is a sunken basin that is interrupted by the Loess Plateau and the Qin Mountains, stretching 300km east to west and an average of 100km north to south. It is also called Guanzhong or the Wei River Plain. The term Guanzhong was used at the end of the Warring States period to refer to the area surrounded by Hangu Pass in the east, Sanguan in the west, Xiaoguan in the north, and Wuguan in the south. It has been described as the 800-li Qin River, and since the construction of Haojing, the capital of the Zhou dynasty, and Xianyang and the Epang Palace in Qin, it has been the location of successive capitals and has developed into a political and economic center.
