Generally, this refers to distillation performed at a pressure of 200 mmHg or less, and when it is more than 200 mmHg, it is called distillation under reduced pressure. In the past, vacuum distillation was generally performed as a batch distillation in the simple distillation style, but recently, with the shift to fine chemicals in the chemical industry, there has been a demand for advanced purification and separation, and continuous distillation in the distillation column style has become more common.
