...In Mahayana Buddhism, the thought of the Buddha body deepened, and Nagarjuna of the Madhyamaka school, as well as Maitreya, Asanga, and Vasubandhu of the Yogacara school, finally established the theory of the three Buddha bodies, which states that there are three types of Buddha bodies: (1) the law body (dharma-kāya), (2) the reward body (sambhoga-kāya), and (3) the response body (nirmāṇa-kāya).
