Compounds of rhenium and sulfur include rhenium sulfides in the oxidation states II, IV, and VII.
[Rhenium(II) sulfide]
Chemical formula: ReS. It is obtained by reacting a mixture of hydrogen sulfide and hydrogen gas with rhenium(VI) oxide (ReO ₃₎ at 90 °C. Specific gravity: 7.42. It is stable in argon up to about 1000 °C. When it reacts with hydrogen, it becomes rhenium and hydrogen sulfide at 280 °C.
[Rhenium(IV) sulfide]
Chemical formula: ReS _2. It can be obtained by mixing ReO ₃ and sulfur and heating it in a vacuum at 400°C for 24 hours.

［硫化レニウム(II)］
　化学式ReS。硫化水素と水素の混合ガスを90℃で酸化レニウム(VI) ReO₃に作用させると得られる。比重7.42。アルゴン中で約1000℃まで安定。水素と反応させると280℃でレニウムと硫化水素とになる。
［硫化レニウム(IV)］
　化学式ReS₂。ReO₃と硫黄とを混合し，真空にした状態で400℃で24時間加熱すると得られる。
