Day, D. (English spelling) DayD

In 1952, the record company Decca acquired shares and took control of Universal, but in 1959 it merged with Music Corporation of America (MCA), and in 1962 MCA became the new owner of Universal. From the late 1950s to the 1960s, the company produced such films as Douglas Sirk's melodrama The Great Passage (1959), bedroom comedies starring Doris Day (1924- ) (Having a Good Night, 1959, Come Home, Lover, 1961, The Touch of Mink, 1962, etc.), and also successfully assisted in the production of ambitious independent works, such as Stanley Kubrick's spectacular historical drama Spartacus (1960), Robert Mulligan's social drama To Kill a Mockingbird (1962), the comedy The Countess (1967) starring Charlie Chaplin, Marlon Brando, and Sophia Loren, and Truffaut's science fiction film Fahrenheit 451 (1966). Furthermore, under the direction of Lew Wasserman, who had been with MCA, he focused on television, producing the first "television movie" in Universal City in 1966, and subsequently led the television movie industry with the "Kojak" series and other productions.
