A wing shape developed to further improve the aerodynamic characteristics of the delta wing. A delta wing with a small aspect ratio is effective for reducing wave drag during supersonic flight, but a shape with a large aspect ratio is effective for reducing induced drag. In order to meet these conflicting requirements, it was conceived of to increase the wingspan and reduce the wing area. It is used in large supersonic jet airliners such as the Concorde.

三角翼 (デルタ翼) の空力特性をさらに改善しようとして開発された翼の形状。超音速飛行において造波抗力を小さくするためには，縦横比の小さい三角翼が有効だが，誘導抗力を小さくするためには縦横比の大きい形状が有効となる。この相矛盾した要求を満たすために，翼幅を大きくし，かつ翼面積を小さくするということから考えられた。コンコルドなど大型の超音速ジェット旅客機に使用されている。
