dastgāh (English spelling) dastgah

...However, in reality, it is not a strict abstraction of raga, since it includes some differences in pitch. In Iranian music, the concept of dastgāh is closest to a musical scale. The concept of the octave scale is thought to have not originally existed in Iran, and traditionally it was a theoretical extraction of a scale that reaches an octave by collecting or abstracting melodic gushes based on tetrachords or pentachords.

From [Maqam]

...A term used in classical art music in Arab countries, Turkey, and Iran. Originally Arabic, it became a theoretical term for Arabic and Persian music with the development of the Islamic Empire. This musical culture was later inherited by the Ottoman Empire, and it is also used in Turkish music. However, in modern Iran, the Persian word dastgah is used instead of maqam. Maqam has several meanings, including "sound" and the standard of a series or scale of notes and melodic methods based on them.
