Corchorus capsularis (English spelling)

...general term for the plant bast fiber, which is strong and easy to spin, and is widely used for burlap sacks and other coarse cloth, and for the plant from which this fiber is extracted. The fiber is extracted from two annual plants of the Tilia family, Corchorus capsularis L. (also called white jute) and C. olitorius L. (also called Taiwan jute), but the former is more widely used because of its better quality and larger yield.
