There are two botanically distinct crops in the Brassicaceae family. One of these, Brassica campestris L. (Chinese colza, the name given to the group of varieties used for oil production), is also called native rapeseed, and is also called red seed (akadane) because its seeds are yellowish-brown and reddish in color.
