… Education to train specialists such as painters and sculptors has existed for a long time, but it was not until the end of the 19th century and into the 20th century that the educational value of art began to be recognized in general education. This was around the time that James Sully (1842-1923) of England studied children's drawings and recognized the importance of their expression, and Franz Cizek (1865-1946) of Austria recognized children's self-expression and creativity and opened a children's art school. In contrast to the geometric and copying drawings that aimed to train the eyes and hands, which were the lineage of drawing and design up until then, attention was focused on the value of children's art, which has its own unique expression and recognition that is different from adults', and it began to be incorporated into general education. …
