...They are caught in large quantities with bottom trawls and used as ingredients for dried fish and kamaboko (fish cake). There are three genera and about 20 species of Chlorophthalmidae fish known worldwide. Of these, six other species of Chlorophthalmidae fish known to be found in Japan are Tomomehikari, Tsumaguro Chlorophthalmidae, Naga Chlorophthalmidae, Maru Chlorophthalmidae, Mon Chlorophthalmidae, and Onia Chlorophthalmidae, all of which are morphologically similar, live in the bottom layer of the seas around the continental shelf, and are caught with bottom trawls.
