The Records of Wakokuden in the Song Dynasty

Japanese: 宋書倭国伝 - そうじょわこくでん

This refers to the Wa Kingdom Record, which is included in the section on Eastern Barbarians in the Barbarians Record in the Chinese "Song Shu." Unlike the foreign records in other Chinese historical texts, this Barbarians Record contains almost no descriptions of the unique features of each country, such as its climate, products, systems, or history, and is limited to articles on the negotiations between the Song dynasty and each country. The Wa Kingdom Record also shares this characteristic, being dominated by articles on the Song dynasty's negotiations with Wa (the tribute of the so-called "Five Kings of Wa," and the subsequent appointments of officials by the Song dynasty). 中国の《宋書》夷蛮伝の東夷の条に属している倭国伝をいう。この夷蛮伝は他の中国史書の外国伝と異なり，風土，産物，制度，歴史といった各国の固有のものに関する記述はほとんどなく，宋朝と諸国の交渉記事に限定されている。倭国伝もこの特色をもち，ほぼ宋朝と倭国との交渉(いわゆる〈倭の五王〉の朝貢，それをふまえた宋朝による任官)記事で占められている。ここに記された武の上表文は著名である。宋(南朝)【坂元義種】
