Chiapas

...The construction of a railway to the Pacific coastal port of Salina Cruz and an international highway from Mexico City to Guatemala via Oaxaca is underway, making Chiapas a key transportation hub. Chiapas was established as a missionary and colonized by the Dominican Order in the 16th century, and Las Casas was appointed bishop. The state, which borders Guatemala, is known as one of the areas with the largest Indian populations in Mexico.
