idyll

…the translation of pastoral. Its origin is the Latin word pastor, meaning shepherd (idyll has a different origin, but is often used with the same meaning as pastoral). It is sometimes called pastoral poetry, and in addition to shepherds, cowherds, farmers, etc. appear in it.
