...An Italian saint. Her Italian name is Chiara. She was born to a noble family in Assisi and was accepted into the nunnery by Francis in 1212 at Porziuncola. She later founded and became the abbess of the Convent of St. Clare (the Convent of St. Clare, or the Convent of St. Francis II).
