An electret is a charged body made of a material whose dielectric polarization remains even when the electric field is removed, like the magnetic polarization of a permanent magnet. It is named after the magnet. It is made of plastics such as Mylar and polypropylene. An electret condenser microphone is a product that uses the electric field formed by an electret.
