…Byzantine Neoplatonist philosopher. His real name was Geōrgios Gemistos. He was born in Constantinople and spent many years at the Ottoman Turkish court, where he acquired knowledge of Zoroastrianism and Islam. However, his theories in Constantinople caused a stir, and in 1393 he moved to Mystras (the center of the Byzantine Peloponnese), where he preached Platonic philosophy and the polytheistic religion based on it. *Some of the terminology explanations that mention "Gemistos, G." are listed below.
