Street recording

This NHK radio program began in 1946 (Showa 21) just after the end of the war. The announcer took to the streets to listen to the opinions of ordinary citizens on various practical issues and to have them debate them. It was groundbreaking in that it opened the microphone to the public and broadcast their comments nationwide. It covered serious food issues, its introduction to the lifestyle of a "night woman" caused such a stir that she decided to embark on the path to rehabilitation, and it toured around the country for six months on the theme of the new constitution, becoming one of the prototypes of later social programs.

終戦直後の1946年（昭和21）から始まったNHKのラジオ番組。アナウンサーが街頭に出て、現実的な諸問題について一般市民の意見を聞いたり、討論させたりする手法をとった。マイクを国民に開放し、国民の発言を全国に放送したという点で画期的なものであった。深刻な食糧問題を取り上げたり、「夜の女」の生態の紹介に大きな反響があって本人が更生の道を歩む決心をしたり、新憲法に関するテーマで半年間全国各地を巡回するなど、後の社会派番組の一つの原型となった。
