…An evergreen shrub of the Apocynaceae family. It is used to make garlands, and its fruit and sap are poisonous, so it is used in poison arrows. It is fragrant and blooms as clusters of snow-white, five-petaled flowers. The flower's shape resembles that of the sandanka, hence the name. It is native to South Africa. The leaves are leathery green, elliptical or oblong, pointed at the tip, about 10 cm long, and grow in pairs. The petioles are short. The calyx is deeply lobed with five petals, and the flowers are tubular funnel-shaped, star-shaped at the tip, and about 1.7 cm in diameter. They grow in multiple spikes, 5 to 7.5 cm long. …
