Japanese: 明浜[町] - あけはま

A former town in Higashiuwa District, western Ehime Prefecture. Facing the Uwa Sea, there are many inlets and outlets along the coastline. Pearl and yellowtail farming and line fishing are carried out, and citrus fruits such as mandarin oranges and ponkan oranges are grown on terraced fields on the slopes near the coast. There is a sewing factory. In April 2004, it merged with Sanbe Town, Nishiuwa District, Uwa Town, Nomura Town, and Shirokawa Town, Higashiuwa District, to form Seiyo City. 25.98 ^km2 . Population: 4,623 (2003).

愛媛県西部，東宇和郡の旧町。宇和海に面し，海岸線の出入が多い。真珠とハマチの養殖，一本釣漁が行われ，海岸に近い斜面の段々畑では，ミカン，ポンカンなどの柑橘(かんきつ)類を栽培。縫製工場がある。2004年４月西宇和郡三瓶町，東宇和郡宇和町，野村町，城川町と合併し，西予市となる。25.98km²。4623人（2003）。
