The Intergovernmental Maritime Consultative Organization was established in 1958 based on the Allied cooperation system regarding maritime transport during World War II and renamed in 1982. It aims to improve the safety of maritime navigation and maritime technology, prevent marine pollution caused by tanker accidents, and eliminate discriminatory measures between countries.
