Bing, S. (English spelling) BingS

...means "new art" in French. The name comes from L'art nouveau Bing, a store selling Oriental crafts and new designs opened in Paris in 1895 by the German art dealer Samuel Bing (1838-1905), and is used mainly in France and the UK. It was also called style moderne (modern style) in France and Belgium, Jugendstil (Youth style) in Germany, and Secession (Secession) in Austria, but the same form and spirit can be found in them.

...In particular, Tadamasa Hayashi assisted Goncourt and other outstanding Japonisans in their research, encouraging a correct understanding of Japanese art. Samuel Bing (1838-1905), a naturalized Frenchman born in Hamburg, worked hard to sell Japoneseries as a merchant, but was also passionate about popularizing Japonism, thereby aiming to revitalize European art, which was in a state of stagnation. In 1888, Bing launched a luxurious magazine about Japanese art, Le Japon Artistique (a total of 36 issues published until 1891), and in 1895 opened a renovated and renamed Oriental art store, the Art Nouveau Museum Bing. ...
