...This group is made up of disciples who inherited Wolff's philosophy relatively faithfully, and those who came to propose ideas that were somewhat independent from it. The former group includes Ludwig Philipp Thümmig (1697-1728), who contributed to spreading Wolff's philosophy to a wide range of German readers, Georg Bernhard Bilfinger (1693-1750), Baumgarten, who is considered the founder of German aesthetics, and his student Georg Friedrich Meier (1718-77), of whom Baumgarten especially complemented Wolff's system in the area of ​​aesthetics that Wolff had hardly dealt with. The latter group includes Hermann Samuel Reimarus (1694-1768), M. Mendelssohn, and J. H. Lambert.
