...There is also a theory that it refers to works made by the first four generations. Particularly famous is the fifth generation Omi Tadatsugu (secular name Zenbei, Buddhist name Seishinshinshi) from the Genroku and Hoei periods (1688-1711), who had short hair and was called "Gassou Omi" or "Gassou Zenbei." He is said to have been the first to use the "Omi" branding (prior to that, ink inscriptions were used), and also to have been the first to carve the "Ayasugi" plane pattern on the inside of the body....
