In Germany, business administration is generally called Betriebswirtschaftslehre (business economics). This is because, unlike American business administration, which seeks to expand the scope of management theory to include not only public and private enterprises but also various other organizations such as government, education, the military, churches, and labor unions, it initially focused only on private enterprises (corporations).
