Born January 14, 1683 in Kleinbobritz, Saxony Died: August 4, 1753 in Dresden German organ maker of the same era as JS Bach. He came from a family of organ makers and studied under his brother Andreas in Strasbourg before moving to Freiberg in 1710 to become independent. He left behind about 50 fine instruments in Dresden, Freiberg and other parts of Saxony. He also excelled in making clavichords and harpsichords, and improved the piano invented by the Italian B.
