Défense (English spelling)

This is the central area of the new urban development project in the Hauts-de-Seine department in central France. It is located 4.5 km west of Place de Gaulle in the western suburbs of Paris. Since 1958, the public construction project for the Défense district has been progressing as part of the Greater Paris redevelopment project, and public facilities, offices, high-rise apartment buildings, etc. have been systematically constructed after demolishing the old town. The prefecture office, the National Center for Industrial Technology, etc. are located around Place de Défense, and it is connected to Paris by subway.
