...After being banished to the forest of Morois, the two are forced to separate, but their love remains the same, and when Tristan, who is seriously injured, dies unable to wait for Isolde's arrival, Isolde dies as if following him. Stories of sexual love that cannot be suppressed even by the oppression of the system, and of fateful passion that ends with death, such as "Diamede and Grain" have their origins in Celtic folklore, but around 1170 they were written by two authors who also started from lost originals: Eilhart von Oberge in Germany and Béroul in France. These two stories, which seem to convey the rough original well, such as the aphrodisiac playing a crucial role and the protagonist's willingness to resort to deception and violence to satisfy his passion, as well as the Bernese manuscripts "Tristan the Mad" (late 12th century?) and "Prose Tristan" (1215-30?), are called the "vulgar (popular) system". ...
