Conductor's baton (English: bâton de commendment, French)

Horn products unique to the Late Paleolithic period in Europe. Since ancient times, they have been interpreted as baton used in magical ceremonies, and are commonly referred to as such.

It is a stick made of reindeer antler with one or more holes drilled into it, with one end cut to accommodate the fork of the antler, giving it a Y-shape. It may be decorated with animals such as deer or with geometrical designs. It is usually around 20-30 centimetres long.

On the other hand, the Eskimos used a similar tool to straighten rod-shaped bone products. Taking inspiration from this, one strong interpretation is that it was a tool used to straighten javelin handles and the like. As evidence of this, it is said that wear marks caused during processing can often be found around the edges of the holes. In this case, it is often called a perforated horn rod.
