Baruch

…A book in the Old Testament Apocrypha. It takes the form of a letter written in Babylon by Jeremiah's servant and secretary Baruch, who read it to the exiles and sent it to his compatriots in Jerusalem along with a donation. It consists of prayers of confession including a sermon, hymns of wisdom, and songs of comfort and encouragement lamenting the exiles and announcing the nearness of salvation. The original was written partly in Hebrew and partly in Greek. It is believed that the different parts, originating from the 2nd and 1st centuries BC, were compiled just after 70 AD. [Toki Kenji]…
