Major scale (English)

Major scale (English)

A heptonic scale with a major third as the third degree of the scale, one of the diatonic scales. It originates from the Ionian mode, a church mode. The scales are called C major scale, D major scale, etc., based on the note name of the first note. Of these, scales other than those starting with C require derived notes to form major scales, and among them, those that use a sharp ♯ are called variant major scales (in order of least sharps: G, D, A, E, B, F sharp, C sharp), and those that use a flat ♭ are called variant major scales (in order of least flats: F, B flat, E flat, A flat, D flat, G flat, C flat).
