The Tale of Six Generations of Princes

Japanese: 六代御前物語 - ろくだいごぜんものがたり

A story from the Middle Ages. Third-rank junior general Koremori of the Heike clan entrusts the upbringing of his 10-year-old son Rokudai Gozen and his 8-year-old daughter to Kita no Kata, and flees the capital with his tutors Saito Go and Saito Roku. However, he suffers a major defeat in the Battle of Ichinotani and drowns himself off the coast of Kumano Nada. Kita no Kata hides with his two children, but is discovered by Hojo Shiro Tokimasa, who captures Rokudai. Mongaku Shonin of Takao, a monk highly trusted by Yoritomo, asks Hojo for a 20-day reprieve and leaves Kyoto to persuade Yoritomo to rescue Rokudai.

中世の物語。平家一門の三位中将維盛は，10歳になる六代御前と8歳になる姫君との養育を北の方に託し，傅人（めのと）の斎藤五･斎藤六をとどめて都を落ちるが，一の谷の戦に大敗を喫し，熊野灘の沖で入水してしまう。北の方は2人の子を連れて隠れ忍んでいたが，北条四郎時政に知られて，六代が捕らえられる。頼朝の信用厚い高雄の文覚（もんがく）上人は北条に20日の猶予を乞い，頼朝を説得して六代を助けるために京を離れる。
